Checked, not promised
- The record is exactly the bytes you sent
- Nothing was altered, deleted, reordered or backdated
- Every event names the actor responsible
- It existed no later than a Bitcoin block nobody controls
- Nothing was rewritten between any two points in your history
- Anyone can check all of it without an account, using open standards
What we will not claim
Stated before you ask
- Not proof the named actor personally authorised the action. That is your authentication, not our storage
- Not proof the statement inside a record was true when written
- Not a warranty of legal admissibility
- Not indestructible. Whoever holds the cloud account can destroy a copy. They cannot change one undetectably
- No third party watches our log yet. It signs what it receives; Bitcoin is the part independent of us
- Not immune to a flood. No single machine is
Detectability, not prevention. Anyone can stop sending events. Nobody can quietly change what was already sealed.
